Pollution and Its Impacts

Pollution is generally defined as the addition of unwanted substances in to the surroundings and thereby making it unfit for life. Pollution has a greater impact on our health. Air Pollution, Water pollution and Soil Pollution are the three main types of pollutions. Air Pollution and Soil pollution has a greater impact on our health than soil pollution. Soil pollution contaminates the soil and makes it unfit for plant growth and thus affects cultivation. Air pollution is the addition of unwanted and toxic gases and dust in to the atmosphere. Thus it causes serious respiratory problems like bronchitis, asthma and other lung disease. Air Pollution also leads to Acid rain which causes Skin disease. Planting trees and minimizing the vehicle exhaust can minimize Air pollution and its effects. Water pollution is the pollution of water in rivers, ponds, lakes etc. Water is very essential for our body. The contaminated water causes vital diseases in man. Cholera, Amoebiasis, Dysentery etc. are some of the waterborne disease caused by water pollution. Proper treatment of effluents before discharging in to water and reducing water contamination can minimize Water Pollution and its effects. Noise pollution causes loss of hearing and pain in ears. Minimizing the loudness of speakers and planting trees along roads can minimize Noise Pollution and its effects.
